Leigh Ann Van Fossan

Author Leigh Ann Van FossanLeigh Ann took an oil painting class at age 12 and never looked back. She was a cover artist with Art Voices magazine and was featured at the Spectrum Miami art fair with the Artbox Gallery of Switzerland. Her oil paintings are collected in the U.S. and abroad. Leigh Ann earned her BA in Fine Arts and her MA in Education. In 2004, she won the coveted Coluccio Salutati award for Creative Writing at Syracuse University Center in Florence, Italy.

She blends her love for art with her love of childhood wonder, and it was only a matter of time before she put it to work in the form of children's books. Stubborn Sawyer is inspired by Leigh Ann's little boy, who brings endless servings of both laughter and frustration to each and every day.

Fun Fact: Leigh Ann is also the author of women's fiction novel, Painting Blue Water (published 2018), and was the illustrator for Lin Hawthorne's book, Gloria Bee's Big Picture Day (2023).
